The following screencast demonstrates how easy it is to install WordPress, a free and open source blogging platform, in no more than 2½ minutes. The developers are proud of their 5-minute easy installation process, but I’m proud to demonstrate that it can be done in less.

A follow-up screencast that shows how to configure a new WordPress blog is in the works.

Make WordPress 2.5 look even better

I know I’m harping a bit on how great WordPress 2.5 is, but here’s some eye candy:

The admin backend is extensively pluggable; it’s really easy to create colour themes, and someone has created a plugin that makes it “Stylish Blue“.

I can’t wait to give this sort of awesome interface to my blog service users over at PersonalLog.

Upgraded to WordPress 2.5

I’ve upgraded Geekie.org to WordPress 2.5 (stable), and am very satisfied with the new look. Users won’t experience too many differences, but the admin backend and PHP code do differ from WordPress 2.3.

The final stable version of WordPress 2.5 is finally out!

I will be upgrading first thing tomorrow morning. Excellent!

This time, just read the WordPress development blog for their information. I won’t even try covering what 165 other blogs have already posted about!
